While apps like Zoom and Teams do have mute indicators, having the status in the macOS menu bar works better for me because it's always visible, regardless of what is foremost on my display. I've been using this with Zoom and MS Teams for work-related conference calls, and I also support committee members who use Zoom for public meetings.Įven though Zoom and Teams both have built-in mute toggle, and Zoom also has built-in Push-To-Talk (PTT), I prefer using mic drop as my microphone control because I can use the same key combos to mute in different apps, and I always know for sure when I am muted because the status is shown in the macOS menu bar. #SKYPE MUTE HOTKEY MAC BLUETOOTH#
Fixed: An issue with newer MacBooks running in clamshell mode when using Bluetooth headphones. It doesn't look like this was going to be fixed by Apple soon, so we've figured out a workaround on our end. Apparently that's NOT what you want in the middle of an audio call. Fixed: The notorious Monterey Bluetooth bug! There's an especially hairy bug with macOS Monterey where muting a Bluetooth device also mutes your headphone audio. Notifications are off by default, but you can enable them in Preferences. New: Visual notifications! Now it's easier to tell when you've toggled the mute.
#SKYPE MUTE HOTKEY MAC UPDATE#
This update improves microphone detection when using an external display and fixes a rare crash when connecting a new audio device for the first time. You can use your Bluetooth headphones with Mic Drop again! Also, visual notifications help you know when you're muted. A list of problematic devices are listed on our support page. Mic Drop will warn you if it detects an incompatible device.

All bluetooth and wired headphones work-it's just some niche USB audio interfaces that Mic Drop won't mute. Mic Drop works with just about any audio device out there, but some audio devices can't be muted by macOS, so Mic Drop can't control them. No matter where you’re meeting, Mic Drop’s got you covered.

Mic Drop never listens to you.īecause Mic Drop mutes your audio at the system level, it works with any app you can imagine. Optionally shows a notification anytime you toggle your mute setting. Shows your microphone status in an optional floating window. Shows your microphone status in the menu bar. Supports push-to-talk and push-to-mute. Automatically keeps you muted (or unmuted!) if you change audio devices.

Works with every app and audio device out there. Allows you to define a custom keyboard shortcut that works across your Mac. And it lets you (un)mute yourself even if you don't have your meeting app open. It also shows your mic status in a menu bar icon, so you'll always know at a glance whether you're muted or not. It works with every meeting app out there-from Zoom to Slack, FaceTime to Houseparty. Mic Drop helps you mute (and then unmute!) your microphone with a keyboard shortcut or a menu bar control. Ever been in a video call and needed to turn off your microphone, but couldn’t find the mute button quickly enough?
